The Ontario Ride to Conquer Cancer

I wasn't sure so I called the Ride office today to confirm. There's no more M200 event for the RTCC. They've created a "Classic Challenge" route which I'd taken to be the old M200, but Day 1 will apparently include more hills while Day 2 will be much shorter. Before I offer my feedback, I wan...

I was not impressed with the behavior of some of Steve's Cycle Paths. A group of them stopped in the middle of the bike path on The Queensway in Mississauga, got off their bikes, ran up against some fences and proceeded to urinate in plain view of everyone. They all laughed and thought it was a big joke. I c...

Hi I've posted a few times my history. In February 2010 I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare blood cancer. I had a stem cell transplant at Princess Margaret Hospital June 2010 to treat my Myeloma, there is not yet a cure but there are treatments for this plasma cell cancer. I signed up for the 2...

Congrats to all the riders who helped conquer cancer in 2011! This was my first ride but definitely not my last - I had such a blast and was totally overwhelmed throughout the two days with the enthusiasm and compassion by all the riders, crew, volunteers, and cheering crowds. In terms of fundraising, I'm utterly lacking in charm but I've got the distinct advantage of being a persistant and greedy bastard. Anyway, I've been trying to recruit a few local businesses as team sponsors and it occurred to me that if I had my team do the ride in reverse (Falls to Toronto) or do the Tor...

I have to say that, as a first time rider, I wasn't sure what to expect. I heard very good things about the ride before but I just wasn't sure... Well, it well exceeded my expectations!!!!! I'm not a competitive or club rider, but I am a bit of a gearhead and I love looking for ways to make my gear my own. I thought overall the 2011 RTCC was a fantastic event. I've done the Quebec ride (2009) and the 200 M ride (2010), and rode the 200 K this year. The organization is great, the volunteers are incredible, the cheering stations along the way are really inspiring. I thought we should start thread to tal...

Had the misfortune of crashing my bike somewhere after the first pit-stop on day 2 of the 100 mile route today. Front forks sheared clean off and I hit hard, landing in the ditch. It seemed as though there were not nearly as many people riding with the survivor flags on the bikes. My only reference is looking around at Day 1 start and in the bike coral at Mohawk. I opted to just use the yellow socks that were introduced this year as alternate symbol. I think it was a good idea, thou...

Where do you put the rider number signs on your bike if you don't have a top bar? I don't have a top bar, and the lower bar is too low to put anything on without the sign getting caught in the tire or chain. Also, how do you put the sign on the seat if you have one of the bags that fits under the seat? Thanks Jenn...
