hi I have a Garmin 800 and want to upload the Ride's routes on mapmyride to my Garmin 800. I don't want to go through Garmin's site. Can it be done? I saved the files as GPX files on my macbook pro and need to know what to do next. Thanks for your help.
The easiest way is to load the GPX files at www.bikeroutetoaster.com, then transfer them directly to your Garmin.
If you had saved them as TCX files, you could just copy them onto your 800 directly on your desktop - the Garmin mounts the same way an external USB key would. There is a folder (I think it's called "new files") in the Garmin. Just drop the TCX files there and the Garmin puts them in the proper folder the next time you're powered up.
Speaking of Garmins, does anyone staying at camp have a plan for recharging theirs? I'd hate to have it die on me half way through day two. (I realize I should have come up with a plan prior to today...oops).
I use this http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/digipower-digipower-usb-dual-travel-charger-jsp-dual-jsp-dual/10157083.aspx?path=cb15c3365a0ffee88d397cda5026ea47en02
It can charge my edge 500 and iphone on a single charge.... plus it has a built in flashlight.
