I have to say that, as a first time rider, I wasn't sure what to expect. I heard very good things about the ride before but I just wasn't sure...
Well, it well exceeded my expectations!!!!! The organization, the logistics and the way they carried it out was excellent.
But the biggest kudos, from me, go to the crew, volunteers and police officers who assisted the riders throught the routes. Thank you soooo much for being so nice, helpful and kind to us. I did not find one person with a frown or a tired disposition, even after being on their feet all day, under the sun and assisting thousands of people.
+100! Everybody was very nice and helpful! It was my first time also, and when we arrived at camp there was no problem finding a volunteer who would be more than happy to help and answer questions. Bravo!
I want to add the medical team who helped me on Day one! (I was pulled off at 62 km because my blood sugars were doing what I now call a Halton Hill - up and down, up and down).
On another note, did anyone else on the mile route notice that Mississauga has some pretty nice looking female officers? If I ever feel the need to get arrested, I know where I'm heading
Most of the uniforms working intersections were likely auxiliary police. From the Toronto Police Services website:
"Currently, over 340 strong, auxiliaries volunteer approximately 70,000 hours annually of their time to assist the Service in areas that include community mobilization initiatives, crime prevention programs, special events, parades, searches for missing persons and emergency call-outs".
