Help Please

Where do you put the rider number signs on your bike if you don't have a top bar?  I don't have a top bar, and the lower bar is too low to put anything on without the sign getting caught in the tire or chain.  Also, how do you put the sign on the seat if you have one of the bags that fits under the seat?

Thanks

Jenn

For the seat bag, I used a couple of extra tie wraps to create loops that went around the seat rails and hung the name plate from those. This year I am just going to tie wrap to a strap right on the seat bag.

As for the top bar issue, that can depend on the specific bike. Let me know the brand/model and may be I can make a suggestion.

If it looks like this, I see your problem.  I would try to attach it wher the cables enter the frame - or even to the cables that enter the frame.  Or take the earlier advice and let someone else do it.

That's my bike (except a lot cleaner).  I'll bug one of the event guys tomorrow, but will attach the seat sign as you suggested.  Thanks for the advice!

Maybe put it on the diamond from saddle to center of wheel? It shouldn't get in the way that way.

You're brave riding 200km on that bike! I have a superlight road bike, and I won't find it easy. Will wave if I see you en route.

I think I'll be fine - I trained while pulling my 40lb son in a bike trailer!

Aw... that's how I trained too :)

I have two bikes... one kinda like yours (I ride that with my kids) and a lightweight hybrid. I broke down and got the hybrid (complete with clips) last year, and it made a big difference, especially on the hills. However, you can totally do it on a heavier bike... just takes a little longer.

I figure one km with my 6 year old (48 pounds) riding the trail-a-bike must equal 3-4 kms on my hybrid... it sure is a good workout, especially on hills.

They will totally help you on site with the signage... there will be lots of people around to ask.

Geez, now I think my 3 year old is a big boy, if your child is 48lbs and 6!
