Hi I've posted a few times my history. In February 2010 I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare blood cancer. I had a stem cell transplant at Princess Margaret Hospital June 2010 to treat my Myeloma, there is not yet a cure but there are treatments for this plasma cell cancer.
I signed up for the 2011 ride as a goal to get better after my transplant to ride. And I accomplished it! The ride was a great way to mark my one year anniversary of my stem cell transplant. Such a positive experience decided to do it again for next year!
Looking to form a team this year because I think as a group we can accomplish more fundraising (fundraising parties are a lot of work by yourself!) and can motivate each other in training. Good to start working now that the weather is nice, things slow down in winter.
I live in Bloor west area of Toronto, so do a lot of riding the lakeshore trails etc, but I can meet anywhere toronto. I am in my 30's and as my name says a girl! My team doesn't come up on the list of teams yet but I have contacted the ride to form the team. If you want to join send me a message reach_alyssa@hotmail.com and you can check my profile search my ride fundraising page Alyssa Dickey
Name change! decided to focus on organizing a work place team since there are not any teams from the Ontario Public Service, so name is now "OPS Riders", but we are open to anyone who want to ride. Upcoming info session for anyone interested downtown after work in a few weeks. email me at alyssa.dickey@ontario.ca or join the team on the registration site
