Considering the time of year, I don't think we did that bad - $475.67 - which has to be split between 2 of us.   We've been doing this, LCBO tag days, for what seems forever.  Before I started riding in "the Ride", I walked in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer so had tag days for that.  Having said that, we normally average about $800 at each tag day so $475 was alittle disappointing.  But, because of the cold - more the wind, than the cold - we left much earlier than we normally do.  On the upside, 1/2 of $475 is $237.50 and that's $237.50 more for the Ride than I had when I left home yesterday morning wink - so I am thankful for that.  We have another Tag Day, same location, Feb 2nd.  I'm hoping it will be alittle bit busier as the Super Bowl is the next day.

Hints:

1. You can't just show up at an LCBO - Tag Days are co-ordinated via a regional Charity Advisor.

2. Have donation forms with you - if someone offers $10, I offer to get them a receipt.  Last year, when I offered the receipt, they upped the donation to $20 smile.

3. Bring your Letter Of Participation (from the Ride) with you.  For the 1st time yesterday, I had someone ask for it.

4. I offer yellow ribbons for each person to wear.  I also offer Werthers candy as a draw.  It's amazing how many people will recognize the Werther's box & come see what your table is about.

5.  We ask EVERYONE if they'd like to wear a yellow ribbon in support of the Ride to Conquer Cancer.  You'd be surprised how many people will say no on the way in but drop some coin in your container on the way out.

6.  Lastly, no matter what - whether they give us a donation or not - we ALWAYS smile & say Thank you, Have A Great Day.

Good luck if you do decide to do a Tag Day somewhere.  Try Walmart.  I have a friend who does one there every year.  Walmart will match what you raise up to $700 (I think).

WOW!

Thank you for all the great information and tips

I really do appreciate it.  My wife and I are both riding AGAIN this year and are looking into various new fundraising ideas.  We did a BBQ at Fortinos last year (pictures are posted somewhere on here) and we were very happy at the result as well.

Thanks again!

Actually, they match up to $500.  We did pretty well there last year, and added their donation on top of that made it well worthwhile.

Thanks for the information, I have some tag days in April at the LCBO and the advice will come in handy, I had no idea that Walmart would match, which is awesome! I am going to see if the Walmarts in my area have any availability.
