Selling: 2011 Trek 1.2 road bike

 2011 Trek 1.2   54 cm frame

$ 695 o.b.o.

Trek 1.jpg

I love this little bike.  It carried me through two R2CCS.   I would love to see it to go to a good home.

It handles great, and climbs the hills beautifully.     Trek packs a lot of design and engineering into an entry level bike.

The details:

- 54 cm frame:  fits someone 5' 5˝" -   5' 8˝"

- Aluminum frame with carbon fork

- compact double (i.e.  2x9 = 18 speeds)

- Upgraded tires:  Continental 4000S light, fast, and puncture resistance.

-  brand new handlebar tape.

-  purchased for $1100.

- If you're registered for the R2CC, I'll throw in some goodies

-  Full specs here:   http://www.trekbikes.com/ca/en/bikes/2011/archive/12

I have registered for 2013, rode last year on a Hybrid. I have never had a road bike, I did notice the people on road bike seems to be having a much easier time on the hills than I was. I thought I would try a road bike next year.

I think a road bike is the way to go.  It's lighter, and the skinny tires make for less road resistance and therefore less effort.  Whatever road bike you buy, you'll notice the difference.  Test riding road bikes is a bit like trying out sports cars...or at least that's how I felt after riding a hybrid.  Road bikes are just so light and fast.  The Trek 1.2 is about 18 pounds.

BTW, I still have the Trek if you want to try it out.

If you are looking for road bikes TREK is a great model. Be careful though because the price can become very high very fast. Road bikes with a full carbon fibre frame are very comfortable and make the ride much easier but it will cost you around $2000 for basic components. An aluminium frame road bike is much stiffer and not as comfortable but carries a price of less than $1000. If you are going to ride for any amount of time spending a few extra bucks is well worth it in the long run. Most important thing is to find a bike shop with a staff you can trust

I have had three TREKs now and love each one

good luck

Do you still have this? I know it's a good bike, was hoping to buy something cheaper. I bought a Trek Hybrid last year for my first ride, it was okay and would prob do okay again but my training hasn't been as good this year and struggling a little.

Thanks

Bill
