Traffic lights / leaving Toronto

Like I've said before the RTCC event is the most organized event. But... And I don't know if it had anything to do with the RTCC and more to do with the city of Toronto. Leaving the city was brutal. I would have gone fast speed walking!! Stopping at every single light ,being stuck in between a 1000 riders along a narrow pathway. Compare that to the year previous when we took the lakeshore west as far and were given the go ahead through all the lights.

I agree that last year going on that path was kinda silly but these guys have been doing this for a long time and are great at it and there must have been a reason for it. As for the lights, I think that any route we take will be brutal because to have 4000 riders pass through the city could take an hour and because we are part of the ride we really don't care about the people waiting at the intersections but maybe we should think about them and a few stops at stop lights along the way isen't going to kill us. We all trained during the year and had to stop at intersections so the biggest thing to remember for all of us to to call out to the riders behind you that you are stopping of slowing, it will greatly reduce the number of accidents at the lights.

Lol trust me I would be the first to say how wonderful this event is and how the ride isn't the important part I'm always praising the RTCC I did in my post! But I'm comparing 2010's ride to last years. Lakeshore vs queensway , miller vs ford

The path and delays were in Mississauga, not Toronto - so let's keep Miller and Ford out of it. And the delays were caused because a construction crew started work contrary to the permits that RTCC had secured for use of the roads. This meant that at the last minute they had to change the route... Resulting in the path and delays.

Last year I escaped the city with no problem, there were police at alot of the lights. I was at lunch in about 2 hours. I think I had to stop for 2 lights on the entire route out of the city. But if it takes longer, relax, talk to other riders, enjoy the day! Its not a race, its an experience! Have fun and enjoy the tour.
