Did my online check in and watched the video. I'm just wondering, is it mandatory for us to fasten the name plates to our bikeframes (near the headtube) or are there other spots (like under our saddles) where we are permitted to hold the plates?
I've done other rides (not the RTCC) and have always found when I put the plates near the headtube, it seems to get in the way after some riding.
The smaller name plate is already designated for mounting under the saddle. Its primary purpose, in my view, is to identify you to other riders. The larger plate also helps the security staff at the bike corral match the rider with the bike when exiting. It is much easier for them to do the check when the plate is mounted at the head tube.
I tried mounting the plate at the seat tube 1 year and regretted it. It caught lots of wind and my legs rubbed it a lot. I have not had that problem with the head tube location, but that is probably a factor of bike and rider geometry.

In the first year I lost one of the ties and the name plate attached to my top tube flapped in the wind - resulting in 100s of little cuts to the insides of both of my thighs!
Follow the instructions, mount the plates where and how they want, and you'll be all set.
