I did a garage sale with items friends and family donated. made a quick 300. Offered reciepts to anyone who spent more than 10 but nobody wanted it, great for me cause donation goes under my name then. Was gonna do aerating of lawns in my nieghbourhood but reached my goal and didnt need to. Its a quick easy way to make 500 in a day. Best part is people get a tax reciept for donation. Make dontaion min of 30 or 40 per lawn.
I've tried just about everything in my three years on the Ride. But by far the easiest moneymaker was a raffle.
Find a friend/local business owner/family member/whoever... to donate something nice and of decent value. Sell tickets for cheap (1 for $5 or 3 for $10) to anyone and everyone you can lay hands on. Have a draw for the prize and add the money to your donation total. In about a month of ticket sales, the raffle pulled in $1500. Definitely something I'm going to continue to do next year.
I did a raffle and it raised a lot of money fast! Instead of prizes you can do a 50/50 draw where you divide the total money raised in half keep half and the winner of the draw gets half. I also sold the tickets one for $5, 3 for $10 and an arm length for $20.
