Kingston-Quinte-Picton???

Hello everyone!  2011 will be my first year doing the ride!  I don't even know where to start in terms of training, riding, etc.  I am 27, and not really that active/fit.  Any advice would be great!  As well - I live in Picton, anyone out there in my area that perhaps I could talk to/train with?

Hello,

We have riders out in the Lindsay/Peterborough Area, if you like to join our Team (no cost) Steve's Cycle Paths, send me a direct message.

You have some great cycling terrain around Prince Edward County. Just try to get out a few times before it gets too cold. I know it's hard to get motivated to ride alone, but once you get started, it'll be easier.
There should be a local club, or a least some other riders in your area to hook up with, sometimes the best place to meet them is out on the road.
Good luck.

Hi Dave,
I wa wondering if it might be possible to meet some of the riders from the Peterborough Area as I live in Havelock and I am always looking for training and riding partners.

Thanx
Wayne

Hi there,

I live in Kingston and have a team comprised of people from Kingston, Toronto and Guelph.  If you're looking for a training partner, I'm game!

You *do* have some great areas for riding out there. I did the Picton-Cressy-Waupoos loop (about 55 km) last summer while I was there on vacation. The hill at Lake On The Mountain will be a good training tool for the final hill climb going into Hamilton on the first day of the Ride - USE IT!

And if you need motivation to get out riding, put a pannier on the back or bring a small backpack and make a couple of quick stops at Fifth Town, and the County Cider Co. on the route. Nice loaf of fresh baked bread back in Picton and there's your post-ride snack! I wish I could ride out there more often......

Hey Rusty, thanks for the info - sorry, just logged into here today and saw your reply.  Yep, great area out here, I actually live across the street from Lake-on-the-Mountain!
