This ride was more than I could have ever asked for! An experience of a lifetime!
I'm still living the high and seriously thinking about 2011. I would 100% do the ride, but am much more concerned about raising the funds. I'd have to end up asking a lot of the same people again and don't believe I would get the donations again... at least the same amount. Have concerns about being able to hit that 2.5k mark...
(P.S. those 2011 shirts they provided at camp for registering were AWESOME. Can you still get them?)
My wife and I have done the walk for the last 4-5 years and the ride for 3 years now and you would be surprised at the number of people that will donate to you again. If your going to ask them you might want to wait a few months or even into the new year since most people in their mind budget money that they will donate to a charity. Also, now that you have done it you will be able to talk to them more about it and explain the challanges you went through and how amazing the event was.
As the coaches always say, the worst response they will say is "no". If that is the case ask another person or have a BBQ, garage sale, hockey pool.
I know in the past with the walk that the re-register shirts are only available on the weekend, i tried a few years ago to register for the walk after the weekend and they said they don't have any more shirts. Most likely they move them onto the next event but you could always call the office and see.
Another thing to consider is registering now and then deciding later, I wouldn't want you to decide to do it and then no spots be open for you.
Funny story, the first year my wife and I did it we hadn't really talked about wanting to do it again since the training was pretty hard (we didn't even own bikes when we signed up) but before the first day was even completed the entire team of us had decided to do it again.

You mean the tshirts in black and grey "strength in numbers" with 2011 in yellow? They are amazing. I want like a few. Wonder if they will sell them online. I'd buy up 3 if they're a reasonable price. And happily. Great material and design, and long enough. I had 5 people comment on the shirt yesterday.

There will be another shirt at 2011 orientation but it is usually a regular cotton tshirt! The re-registration shirt is only available the weekend of the event!
PS Are we really talking 2011 already??? Only 51 weeks left!
This was my first ride as well. It was an emotional awesome experience. I have always biked on my own, never did a tour, so have nothing to compare to, but I thought it was extremely well organized. I should have cycled back to Toronto, the pit stops were so well stocked. It was also a very emotional finish for me, on the Saturday night , while we were in camp, my brothe rin law passed away from cancer. We did not expect this for at least 6 more months. I was riding with his name on my shoulder, and Joe was asking me to bring him the jersey when i was finished. It was an affirmation of why I did hte ride, thank you to all those people who I was able to say Hi and a few words to through out the 2 days
PAINTGIRL: OMG on your brother. I lost mine the day after I visited him in the hospital, and they said it would be about another week, so the last thing he said to me was "I can't wait to be at the finish when you ride. I lost it every time I passed a cemetery and sometimes just thinking about him during the ride.It hurts. You were doing something very worthwhile at the time. I had my brother's photo with me, his beloved Toronto FC Pin on my jersey, and that kept me going for the M200 route. Maybe Joe and Jerry are up their talking about their insane siblings riding this thing, grinning and all proud?
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. sincerely.
Chase
