Just wondering, how fast are most of the riders going generally? From the videos I've seen it seems quite leisurely with lots of gliding and no constant pedaling...
I remember from the orientation meeting that someone asked a similar question. The answer was "We expect riders to finish the 100k anywhere from 2.5 hours up to 8 hours"
So basically 12.5km/h to 40km/h. It depends on your ability. You'll find someone riding at your pace.
I went to an orientation in November where the girl had had her car busted into, nothing with her to, well, orient with. I learned nothing.
To go 100 miles a day, Taylor, what would the average speed be? Considering lunch and wee breaks so one like me can stop for pain meds and brief laying on the ground moments?

I was a newbie last year and had only started training in January for the Ride. On Saturday, I started out at 8:30-ish and pulled into Hamilton just before 4. That included lunch and rest stops and having to walk up the mountain in Hamilton... lol
On Sunday I started out right at 7 and pulled across the finish line around 2. H
Having done the ride the past 2 years, the fastest was just around 2 hours by Steve Bauer and friends and the slowest was about 9 hours (year 1). They are supposed to pull you off the road at 8 hours.
The weather also factors into time. Day 2 first year we rode into a strong headwind which easily added 45 minutes to my time and day 2 last year was no wind or a slight tail wind.
