Any good Training Routes?

Hey does anyone know any good training routes with minimal traffic? If so can you plot them on google earth and post them??

Thanks a newbie, that isn't quite up to a group workout yet... I would hold you up!

Whereabouts do you live? That will help narrow the possibilities.

I live in Hamilton... sorry ... but I would travel to other areas... I am not necessarily interested in group rides yet as I am just not fast enough yet. I have been getting up early and trying just general routes in Hamilton. But I would prefer a back roads area. The rail trails are good also...

Thanks
Stan

I don't live in the Hamilton area, but there is a website mapmyride.com that list a bunch of routes entered by other people.

http://www.mapmyride.com/search?txtLocation=hamilton+ON&txtKeyword=&lstSortBy=cs.view_count+desc&lstDistanceMin=&lstDistanceMax=&lstRatingMin=&lstRatingMax=&lstRouteTypeID=&btnSearch=SEARCH+%3E

Try that. If it doesn't connect, go to mapmyride.com then click on FIND A RIDE and enter Hamilton ON in the location.

Enjoy your training.

My sister and I ride Brittania to Hamilton and back to Mississauga (about 110 km. route) good ride, some challenging hills, scenery and part of the route is the "ride" route.

Here in Ajax there are some great bike trails that I use down by the lake. You can either way to Pickering or towards Oshawa but the trails go further then that

Wow... What a great site, Simon, thanks. Actually I found a great book with a bunch of great lakeside rides in it. Tomorrow when I am in the office I will post the link.

Thank you to all that have answered my questions

Maybe you've found some good rides already but, if not, one to consider is Highland Road on the far east Mountain; take Highland east to the very end, then jog over to Young Street, which takes you into the Grimsby area. On Sunday mornings, you might be passed by just a handful of cars for the whole 60-mile return trip.

Great hill training in King City. Start at King Road and Jane Street and head north. Continual rolling hills with a wide shoulder to stay away from the traffic.
