What hotel(s) did people stay at last year in Hamilton?

Just wondering what hotel(s) people used on the Saturday night in Hamilton and what they thought of them?  What was the taxi situation like?  We are looking to enjoy camp for a while and then sleep in comfort.  Your help is appreciated

Well.
I shared a ride their so the taxi ride wasn't bad.
BUT
There was a teenage girl screaming match going on on my floor.
There were no drapes on my window and the building across the street was fully lit.
And the kicker was they did not honour their guaranteed wake-up call.
I told them when I checked him how important it was that I be woken up and why.
They kept telling me not to worry; they have a GURANTEED wake-up call.
When I asked the front desk at check out why they did not wake me up.
They said they called but I did not answer.
Ummmmm
Possible.
BUT the whole PURPOSE of a GURANTEED wake-up call was that you keep calling until I get up.
ok
Sorry
Can you tell this is a sore spot for me?
As a result I was exhausted because I got little too no sleep.
I slept in for what little sleep I did get.
I missed breakfast, and started my ride WELL behind everyone else, as in they were packing up when I got there...
Ironically enough, my friends who stayed at tent city slept like babies.
Go figure.
This year I have a wedding Saturday night (I know, glutton for punishment) so I will be leaving for the reception and then staying at home... at least guaranteeing myself 5 hours sleep in the process.
:)
Good luck with whatever you decide.

There are many Hotels below the mountian just a bus ride away or short cab ride.  The event does get some listings that are reasonable and there are several bed and breakfast in you are interested in that.  They focus more on the clients and have fewer people.  Last year they gave great breakfast and very helpful.

The tent city is good and it is an experience in itself.  They do a good breakfast and it is nice not to rush around but it all depends on your price point I guess.

Best Western
Marriot
Airport Hotel

They are all about 10 minutes away on Upper James.  They are also located close to resturants.

Unfortunately, the options are limited, as pretty much everything is booked by now. I ended up getting a room at the Howard Johnson (used to be the Airport Inn I believe), which doesnt look very appealing actually. You can give them a call at 1-866-443-4473. I am paying $109 for the night. Good luck!

I didn't stay in a hotel, I stayed in Tent City.  I slept like a baby.  I was so tired I think I could have slept anywhere.  Having said that this year I do plan on taking an air mattress as I only took a one inch foam pad last year and although I slept great I was a little stiff the next morning.  Not sure if that was from riding 100+km or from practically sleeping on the ground.  Not taking any chances this year.  I also had earplugs which helped with the noise, not that there was much.   I enjoyed tent city and would not consider going to to hotel.  Camping isn't for everyone but they have everything you could possibly need at the camp, plus it is free.  Now last year we were lucky with the weather, hopefully it will be like that again this year.  Good luck for what every you decide to do.
