This is my 6th Ride to Conquer Cancer, and I sometimes wonder how the money raised is being spent to make things better. I hope to report on that in each newsletter I write to my many supporters and here's the first one that I got from one of the Ride organizers:
"One thing that I find to be fairly remarkable that has been created from the RTCC fundraising is the Princess Margaret Rapid Diagnosis Clinic. This is a program started by Dr McCready in 2009 where women can come and have tests done, confirm a diagnosis and biopsy, and have a treatment plan within 24hrs. This program is the only one of its kind in Canada and significantly reduces the stress and anxiety that goes along with having tests done and waiting to hear about a diagnosis."
My contact then went on to write: "Here is a link to the PMHF website explaining a bit further how fundraising dollars help out with various platforms and programs.
Because "we the riders" all have different types of cancer's that we are supporting, I don't think they can't really nail down any one specific thing. I have specified I want my fundraising to go to general cancer research, but I know others have specified for example "lung cancer research" or "prostate cancer research". I have attached the latest web page I could find from PMHF which also has their 2012 financial records, if that's any help? You may find something on the web page which explains some of the latest innovations. But, I do agree with you. It would be nice if every once in awhile, they sent out something to say..."Hey, this is what we have been doing with some of your fundraising dollars"! Good Luck with your fundraising and your ride!
