SUFFERFEST Training DVD & Garmin Edge

Hello all, Just thought I would share a good training tool I have found.

I purchased a Training DVD from   http://www.thesufferfest.com/

The one I bought is called "The Hunted" it is one hour long and gives you a recomended Resistance Setting and Cadence based on your own scale of "Suffering". So you can tailor it to your level. It used actual Tour Race footage and has a music track with sounds to signal speed up and slow downs. ( it was a download file which I made in to a DVD) it was around $15. There are 6 in total.

I was doing it for the last month or so as I change from Watching TV. Tonight I added a Cadance/Speed Sensor and Heart Rate Monitor to The Garmin Edge I bought at Christmas for Next Spring. Adding this to give a realtime Cadance made a world of difference. I think this will be my training of choice for the duration of the winter and allow me to set goals in hopes to be ready when the roads are ready again. June Here we come.

Here is a post on Garmin Connect showing my Stats for the DVD session. There is a few second dip at around the 46 minute mark when I had to pick up the towel I dropped around 20 minutes in. I was afraid I would rot the carpet if I did not get dried off. I need to get a mat next.

Have a look and if anyone else tries the DVD and would like to post stats. Perhaps we could set some goals for each other. Long distance Training Partners.

Thanks to those who advised me when buying a Cycling GPS. I am very happy with the Edge 500.

Cheers & See you all in June

Bill

I'm a big fan of the Sufferfest videos. They certainly work. And I love my Garmin... But I prefer Strava over Garmin Connect.

If you're interested in signing up let me know and I'll email you a link. If you use my link I get a free month added to my paid subscription - and it doesn't cost you anything.

The free service they offer is awesome. Aside from a few analyisis tools you get everything with the free account that you get with the paid service.

We could create a Strava club and compete with one another. It does all the tracking and ranking of the riders, etc. It's very cool.

I joined Strava as well. I tried it first and it only showed Cadence and Heart Rate and Averages for the others. I do like the Social aspect of that sight though.  Here is the same ride on Strava.

Sorry I am already a member so I can't use your link. What is the benefit of being a paid member. Other than Suffer Scale? Can I select which details from the device are displayed like the connect sight for instance?

If you want to start a club, count me in. Anything to break the winter blahs.

I expect that once I get back on teh roads I will see the benefits of Strava over Garmin Connect. I see 4 people ride in my area, but they are all away at School.

Thanks for the input
