Wow that came fast 40 days to go approx 33-35 days left to train. Rode 100km on saturday but wasn't easy. All those rain days on a spin bike just didn't do the conditioning I hoped for. Anyone else feel like they are behind scedule on training? I'm not worried about day 1. I'm more worried about day 2. The weather has made it real difficult to get back to back training days in. I have done century rides in the past but this will be my first M200. I'm looking forward to getting on the road and enjoying every second of the pain. lol
I don't think that I'm as prepared as I should be due to weather conditions. I'm more worried about Day One as opposed to Day Two, as there will be more hills and I haven't made it up most of the hills I usually ride (probably because I'm towing my 40 lb son), but I'm not giving up - I'm determined to make it up one while training!
Oh yeah, way behind. Less than 1/2 the km at the same point last year. With the weather, I'm falling behind on training and home projects. Fortunately I get about 27km of commuting everyday - rain or shine (if it ever shines)
I found day 2 of the 200 mi harder than the first. I think a combination of factors; the wet conditions, the smaller, more staggered crowd in which I never found a group to stay with for long, and a failure to properly re-fuel up the night before.
i feel a bit behind. This time last year i was on the road almost every day after work riding anywhere from 25km to 60km rides. This year it's near zero due to circumstances beyond my control (including trying to sell our condo). Like you, day 1 i'm not worried about. Day 2 however....... we might need the help of J'AH
I too am way behind last year, and hope to catch up this week and next but maybe it is a good thing that there will be this escape route on day two of the 100 m.
The word from the ride is that the escape will be at about 50 k and will take you to the lunch stop on the 100 k route. This way you can ride for 50 k on the 100 mile route to get a real sence of your legs before having to make the call, instead of having to decide right out of the driveway at the start of day two.
Im not even considering the short cut! I plan on bringing a few advil and tylenol and pushing through. Just cant help but think i will regret it if I dont finish what I set to do!
I know why we are all riding, but just remember again what all the cancer survivors are going through. This ride will still be a breeze! I haven't rode as much, but have consistently over the past 3 weeks putting in a few 60 k rides... plus! i'm on a sweet ass road bike this year vs. a hybrid last year
Lucky you to have a new bike (I'm envious)! I have to stick to my city bike. But I'm getting there, slowly, but surely. I just have to think about what my Aunt went through before she lost her battle, and everything seems a lot easier. The way I figure it, as long as I keep pedalling, I have to get to the end at some point!
