Hi everyone, just took up cycling late last summer and jumped in with both feet by signing up for the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Met a couple of people at Orientation that talked about forming a team but that fell apart. Looking for riders out this way to train and hopefully team with for the cancer ride. Been training indoors through the winter and been out as much as weather permits the last month but still fall into the newbie category. Averaging 25 - 40 km per ride right now. Open to all suggestions and ideas. Thanks, Ernie.
We have a team out of Peterborough (though have members scattered over southern ontario, we've been training the past few weeks outdoors and are up to 60-80k, I'm an official training rider, today we are doing a 60k in and north of peterborough, meeting at 1pm at the memorial center, if you are interested feel free to contact me at saleadam@hotmail.com I will be doing an organized ride at least once a week, probably both saturday and sunday closer to the end of may. You're welcome to train with us, and after we meet we can all decide on joining the team.
I rode last year solo and it was an amazing experince, this year with a team is going to be even better! we are a mix of male/female, young and old, m/km riders, what kinda bike are you riding?
Sorry for my delay in responding. I thought if anyone replied to my post I would get notice to the email attached to my account so I was thinking no one had replied but that's not the way it works I guess. :)
My bike is a Specialized Secteur Sport X3. Knew nothing about bikes when I picked it out, was just trying to stay within a certain price point, but I am very happy with it and I have had a few people make comment that it is a good bike so I guess I lucked out with my pick.
Thanks for the invitation. I am going to mull it over as Ptbo is still a bit of a hike to just meet up. I signed up with the Oshawa Cycle Club and went for my first ride with them last night and may have found a team that would take me on.
My Dad lives in Ptbo so maybe I will get up for one of your weekend rides and visit him afterward. I will email you to confirm if coming up.
no problem ernie, we are going out for an 80k on saturday at 9am, and possibly a shorter ride on sunday and then 2 more rides the following weekend, probably hitting a century!
