911 help to source a bike to ride safely

I really need your help!

As you can see that I have reached the fundraising goal. But the only old road bike I have received from a friend is not repairable and is too danger to ride as per Braun's cycle. Now I don't have a bike to ride.

I don't want to disappoint all the donors. Thus I would like to ride on behalf of their friends whom have been suffered with cancer.

I would like to ask if you know anyone who will rent or loan or donate a bike for the ride. If this is company donation, I will offer to promote their company by wearing a banner with their company name on it during the ride.

Sorry, I have very tight on money. Thus I have two children are in University. I don't have a thousand dollar to purchase a new bike. But I can afford a couple hundreds to purchase discounted road bike.

I need you help! Please help me to source a bike to ride safely.

Thank you in advance!

Edwin

What's wrong with your current bike? I saw the other post where you noted it would cost $400 to repair. What's broken? Maybe we can help you source some used parts to fix the problems.

Check out kijiji.ca, craigslist.ca and pinkbike.com for used bikes. There are often low cost bikes for sale that will be more than adequate for this event.

Thanks Twinpro:

I will check those web site for low price road bike.

The old bike I have used the tubular tube. The bike wants to replace them on both wheel with regular wheel, tire and tube, plus labour. It will cost $400 to repair.

I am looking for old road bike using regular wheel, tire and tube in couple hundreds.

If you know anyone want to sell his old bike in decent condition. Please let me know.

Thanks again.

There are all kinds of bikes available on kijiji for less than $300, and they'll meet your needs.

This is old road bike is a gift from a friend. His son uses to ride. It has a lot of upgrade. Therefore I want to show them  this old bike can finish the 200km ride.

Do you know anybody to replace tubular tire?

Most bike shops will replace them. No need to get tubulars - just get a basic set of clinchers and you'll be set. Where are you located?

the rim on the old is only accepted for tubular tire.

Just scrap the old tires and wheels - buy a new set of basic clincher wheels, tubes and tires. For less than $300 you'll be all set.

Peter and Wheels of Bloor are great.  One of my bikes is from them plus lots of gear. The store is a bit intimidating at first because they have mostly high high end road bikes but they always give top service and respect your budget.
