Looking for riding team / partner(s) in Leslieville / Beaches area

Hi everyone,

My name is Ian, I'm doing my first K200 this year, and I'm looking for some riding companions to help keep me motivated and ride with. I'm 24, a moderately skilled rider, and I live in Leslieville, just outside of the Beaches. My work "schedule" is all over the place, so regularly scheduled rides is tough.

If you live around this area, and you're up for occasional short-notice rides, please let me know.

Cheers!

- Ian

Hi Ian,

Just seeing your message now. I'm in the downtown area and I'd be happy to help keep you motivated on short-notice rides. Like you I'm a moderately skilled rider and this will be my second time doing the Ride.

If you're still interested, you can reply to this message on here and I'll keep checking back, and will then give you my email address.

Happy riding.

Shanon

if you are in Leslieville you have some of the best training rides in the city right at your door.  . Go to the spit any evenings after 5 (I know it says it is only open on the weekends) but cyclists' secret there are lots of guys out there every night.  5 k from the road to the light house. Also the Lakeshore bike path to the Don trail and back is great.

If you start at the spit go out and back, then up to Lakeshore over to the Don up to Sunnybrook park and back that is probably 30 k without ever being on a road.

And if you want to practice for the hill to camp at the end of day one climb the Bayview extention from Pottery Road to Moore Avenue a  couple of times.  It is the right pitch just a little too short.

From Sunnybrook park down to Lakeshore is just over 30 km (I used my odometer to do that ride) but if you go along lakeshore and the beaches (along the trail, I mean), to Neville Park then back over to cherry beach is about 10 km.  I'd go with you to ride (I'm in the Main/Danforth area), but I'm a newbie and usually pretty slow as I have to shuttle around my 3 year old in his bike trailer and learning how to use clips for the first time!

Hi Shan,

If you're still up for some training rides in the beaches / Leslieville area, please let me know. It's supposed to be nice most of this week, and I'll be off in the evenings. I plan to make the most of the good weather, so if you're up for it, please reply.

Cheers!

Hi Ian & Shan,

If either of you end up going for some training rides in the beaches area, I'd be interested. I'm 29 and new to cycling and the ride to conquer cancer. Unfortunately I'm busy most evenings this week with the exception of tonight but perhaps sometime we could meet up for some riding. Feel free to email me if its easier at paulboyce26@yahoo.ca.

Happy Riding,

Paul

For the beaches....go hang out at the Green Dragon Pub on Kingston Rd near Victoria Park. They have a super enthusiastic team riding out of there (with one of the pub owners riding) and I'm sure you could find some companions at whatever level you are looking for.

Hi - I am 24 and a newer rider in the riverside area. This will be my first race but I have done quite a bit of spinning in the past. I haven't gotten a chance for much outdoor training yet but would love to organize to some training rides. It would be great to help motivate each other and get comfortable for the race, but don't want to feel I am slowing someone down if what they are looking for is a high intensity, long distance training partner.

Happy to ride on short notice, in the evenings or on weekends (work 9-5).

Anyone interested?
