2010 Route Question

This is a question for those of you that have done this event previously. Are route details given out before the ride or on the day of the ride itself? I have a Garmin 705 and would like to know how if I will be able to load the ride into the GPS ahead of time so I will know how far to the finish and all that.

Thank you in advance,
Taylor

Hello Taylor,

We usually find out that day, or a day or so before. Are you doing the 200 miles or 200 kms?

Welcome to Steve's Team!

Dave

I used my Garmin Edge to track the route for both days last year, and have loaded them here:  http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/RTCC-09-Day-1 and here: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/RTCC-09-Day-2.

Looking forward to 2010 already!

J.

You have a way of getting a map of the 200 mile ride from...ohhhh..there wasn't  one last year. Duh. May i have a copy of last year's route map? chase.cameron@live.com
I'll assume the M200 has all sorts of scenic loops and stuff.

please and thank you.

I worried madly that I wouldn't have a map, but in the end it didn't matter. There's always someone to follow, or to stop the traffic for you when you get to an intersection. And there are support vehicles at every step of the way.

The only thing you need to know is that the most vicious hill of the whole ride is 3km from the end of the first day. If you do that, you are laughing.

The only problem with "there's always someone to follow" is that they may not be going the right way. I learned that last October on a group ride when about 100 people went too far.

But there are volunteers at every single intersection, or cops who stop the traffic for you. There's something amazing at coming up to a red light, and having the cop stop the traffic and wave you through. I never looked at my map the whole time, and I never got lost.

ALEX: I'm doing the 200 Miles. Promised my brother.
I wish they'd send out the route maps already. By now they should have an idea of the route for the M200.

Most importantly, if we SEE a Tim Horton's, can we veer off to get a coffee from the drive-thru? I have my priorities. If i can't have my iPod (the horror of no SRV), I have to have my Tim's.

Currently trying to sell my guitar to pay for bike gear.

It sold for way less than I should have a week after your post. sorry.

Fender.

Next year, the ride won't financially cripple me like this year. Whew..At least I have a usable bike now.
