New Bikes

Does anyone know a good bike that is on sale right now? I'm trying to avoid buying a new one, since I'm a student and don't have a huge budget on my hands right now.

Any help or tips would be perfect!

Thanks

Sorry I have no suggestions but I want to bump this post so hopefully you get some responses.

I am also in need of suggestions for good (cost-effective) bikes for the ride.

There are links to GTA bikeshops that offer 10% off but this is off MSRP and not sale prices (to my knowledge).

Should we buy road bikes as they are far superior, mountain as they are far more cost-effective, or hybrid as they are the best mix?  I would like to spend $400-$800 (preferably under $500 or so).  Definitely prefer new.

Thanks in advance.

You may find a number of bike stores are working to get rid of old stock this time of year and you may be able to get a deal. Other wise if you can wait, go to the bike show in the spring, there are a number of deals available there.

As for the type of bike, I think I have seen everything except a unicycle used in the ride. If you get a mountain bike invest in a set of slick tires, the ride is a lot smoother.

I hope this helps.

Endurosport is selling it 2009 rental bikes - Advantage 19's for $400.

A pretty good deal on a great bike. I rented one last year to do the Montreal RTCC.

I have a 54CM Road bike. Its a Marin Venezia with Shimano equipment. If interested let me know $400. Good Condition. I rode it last year in the Ride and it performed very well. Without a hitch. Its a 2004 with about 2000-3000 kms on it.
