Hi. I signed up and though I rode hard all summer, i lost my bike and was off for the fall. Getting a new bike on the 30th of this month. I tend to ride the Hamilton to Brantford trail, with breaks. have asthma, arthritis, but would like to keep at it and will with a buddy to train with. Anyone in Hamilton with patience and in need of a riding buddy? I'm amateur but motivated, having registered for the M200 ride for 2010. Thanks.

Hello I am from Hamilton and a first time rider also...I formed a team and have one teamate so far... So what kind of bike are you getting? I am in the market for a bike also, my riding thus far has been mountain biking on trails mostly. I would like to get out on rides my other team member travels alot with his work so is not always there to push me. Looking forward to hearing from you. Steve
I'm picking up a mountain bike, Cannondale F7. I had an F8 that was stolen. This one seems like a good bike. I'll have to get the bar ends, rack, etc over the winter. I mostly ride the trail from Hamilton's west end (Ewen Road) to Brantford and back, sometimes just to Jerseyville Road and Back, though I like to hit the 22.3 km mark on trail, putting me at 52-53 km. Jerseyville is a good 45 km from my door to door.
I'd love to be on a team, if possible. Let's face it, there's more motivation that way. I'm hoping to get a ride in this Sunday. It's supposed to be great out. If you don't mind someone tagging along, and break once in a while, that would be great. I have a friend I sometimes ride with, but she thinks a lunch stop is five minutes and we're out to break the sound barrier. I just like to ride.
Hoping to get an indoor roller thing for the snowy months so I can continue to trail when it's horrible out. WOuld be great to keep track of miles/km/time with some other people. even if you don't need a team mate, I'd like the training company.
Oh, what have you named your team?
Cheers, Chase

I'm already on a team but I'm also looking for other riding buddies in West Hamilton. I like the rail trail but it can get quite boring when riding solo.
Chase, I sent you a message about Sunday's ride. Let me know if it's a go and hopefully we can meet up on the trails!
The team name right now is "spokes for the cure" we have talked about changing... This ride is personal for me as I lost my sister in law to cancer on Oct 7th of this year. I work days this weekend and off next weekend Are you going to the orientation on the 7th of Nov. on Upper Wentworth? I am off Wed and Thurs this week and want to get some riding in. Talk soon My email is sguiney@cogeco.ca if you want to email me there Steve
Dawn: just emailed back. Barring rain (until I get rain gear) i'll be out there.
Steve: I'll be at the orientation. It's at my mother's nursing home, ironically. My brother had a bone marrow transplant in early June at PMH and shortly after returning home had to go to SUnnybrook. Temporal lobe infection, then other things. He's still in the hospital. I said I'd ride for him, and I am. I also had a cancer fight of my own I never shared with family years ago. So it's personal for me also.
Wed/Thursday...i'm always off, i just check the weather first. No rain, I'm out there. Light rain, I'm out there. Torrential, eek..though I'll ride in pouring rain if that's there during the ride itself in June.
Maybe we'll all see eachother on the 7th?
and the guy I was buying the Cannondale from just emailed. He was at work and his wife sold the bike to someone else. The search is back on for a replacement.

I picked up a bike for winter anyway, today. A Trek 3700. Have to get it aligned, pulls a tad to the right. It's tolerable at least for now. The guy took the mountain bike tires off and I have them, but he put slicks on. I'm not keen on them. It'll do for now. In December I start layaway for three months on A Cannondale F5, for Spring training and the ride. Aside from surgery in January (and who's going to do the trails then??) and another in either December or February, I'm good to go. They shouldn't side line me long.

I'm on the sidewalk most of the way to the trail start on Ewen off Main West (I don't do King or Main as I'm not suicidal. LOL. But I should be at the Trail head, Off Ewen..ironically by a Cadbury factory, by say 11 or so. Red and White Trek mountain bike.
Aside from a possible stop at the Metro to grab more Clif Bars, I'll be leaving here about 10 and going slow to the trail. It takes a while for the pain in the left foot to stop in the colder weather as the sciatica likes to affect the side of my left foot for a while. It's not that long lasting and goes away as the temperature rises and I get warmed up.
Anyway. If i'm not at the trail at 11, I'm frantically on my way. I can't imagine being late. I was there by 9 all summer, and like to be out there by 10 or 11 in the fall months now.
Let me know, email chase.cameron@live.com if you'll be there or not for 11. I'll be there either way, but it's nice to know if I need to meet up or wait. I'll leave here, Hess and Jackson, at 10:00 a.m., Sunday.

Well, who all will be at the Orientation at Wentworth Heights or whatever it's called (I should know, my mother llives there) nursing home, Community Room, tomorrow at 10 a.m.? I'll be there.
Dawn..you're hiking this weekend. I'm trying to figure out how to ride Sunday/Monday with leather dress shoes. I'm an idiot, but I'll be out there for fun. The riding weather is quickly coming to an end, then I guess I'm going to be out of luck unless some kind soul has a spare exercise bike to loan for the winter.

I have to see my mother after. She knows I'll be there and I don't know how I'd get out of that. Then wait for the bus, then get downtown, then ... Sunday looks good. Last Sunday, two flats. I never get flats.
Not driving is a pain at times.

Hey Steve, it was good to meet you this morning. Picked up shoes so I can ride tomorrow. I'll get in twenty to 45 km in, depending on how late I start and all that. I'm really excited about this ride. Cheers.

I'm looking for a bike this weekend when I'm back home in Toronto (that's my hometown but I go to school at McMaster). I would like to get out on the bike before the weather gets gross outside.
I would love to meet people in the Hamilton-area and train with them! I go to spin classes 3 times a week at DBAC on campus.

I'm doing the ride for my friend Erik who lost his battle with soft-tissue sarcoma this past September, he was only 23!
Hi, Kristina. I actually live in Markham but I'm in Hamilton occasionally to visit my daughter & grandchildren. She lives in the Longwood & Main area - very close to McMaster. Send me your contact info & if I'm in Hamilton perhaps we can get together for a ride. My email address is susanherbison@yahoo.ca
This my 2nd year to ride so I can tell you from experience that you are in for an awesome adventure
