I created a thread last year looking for other Burlington riders in order to possibly coordinate some training rides.
Since it turned in to a great meeting place online where we could discuss our progress and ask and answer questions along with setting up training rides with one another I figured I would create anther thread for this year.
As it's still early and most of us are just concentrating on fundraising, maybe we can share ideas...or possibly set up some fundraisers together, or if you simply want to make others aware of your event feel free to post.
Also a great place for anyone new to the ride to ask any questions of those who have done the ride in the past.
Cheers guys and good luck!

Hello Hamilton rider here...first year for me in 2010... New at road bikes have ridden mountain bikes up to this point so looking to get out and training. Looking forward to hearing from you and getting some rides in. Steve
As the weather is getting colder, I don't know if many training rides will occur until Spring, but we will see what comes up. In the meantime I will be doing a lot of my training in doors until I can ride.
In fact I am looking for inexpensive yet quality Indoor Bike Training Rollers...am even willing to DIM if anyone has instructions. Otherwise let me know if you have any leads on where I can find some Free Motion Rollers. Thanks
Sorry Bykrunski, I would have definitely supported your fundraiser, but I had a wedding that weekend...I hope it went well and you raised a lot of money.
Good luck all with the fundraising...and keep posting your events so we can support each other!.
I am in St. Catharines (so it's nearly Burlington!) and 2010 will be my third RTCC. Hope your findraising is going well so far - as you say, Andy, now we are concentrating on raising the money and so we can concentrate on training.
One training ride that you should keep your eyes out in the Spring is the one that East Dell Estates has held for the last 2 years. It's good practice if you're not used to riding with a large group, the route is sometimes a bit vague but really beautiful and the brunch at the finish is very nice!
I am having a fundraiser on December 5 at the Niagara Gallery on 4323 Queen Street in Niagara Falls from 11am - 5pm - Elna's Ride to Conquer Cancer BBQ & Bake Sale. I have received donations of food from the local deli and No Frills, many friends have offered to bake for me and Zehrs & Sobey's have donated gift cards to get whatever else I need. The Gallery has an open mic every Saturday so people can come and buy something to eat and listen to live jazz! I will also have a lap top set up for people to donate right there on line.
Another rider I met at a the orientaion the other day in NOTL - Paul Ellis- asked if he could bring a table of books to add a Book Sale to the event. He has gotten books donated by Niagara College & Brock University for the past 3 years and sets up tables all over to help his fundraising.
I am hoping it will be a very fun day - any and all are welcome. More info at "Elna's Ride to Conquer Cancer BBQ and Bake Sale" on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=157263501906
As a rider for Steve's Cycle Paths and a Grimsby resident, i will begin training again outside with several of our teammates and we were riding last year from here to Oakville & back. Would love to tack on kms from Burlington as we'll be riding the 200 miles in 2010.
Burlington members of Team 'Happiest On My Bike' has organised some indoor cycling classes at the Burlington Raquet Club the instructor is one of our team members. Some basic information below.
Starting January, there will be 2 classes. Wednesday nights at 7:15 - 8:30 spinning 101 - back to basics. Sunday mornings start time 11:30 will commence January 8th. Starting at 1 1/2 hours then increasing as time goes on. I have passes for those who are interested. This is on a reserve basis only which means bikes are limited. If you buy a pass for 10 weeks, you have precedence over the others since this will allow you to reserve a bike without calling in. You become automatically in!!!!
If you would like to take part please email barbmacc@hotmail.com.
I just thought that I would put the word out about an upcoming fundraiser that I am doing.
Night at the Red Rooster - This Saturday February 20th from about 9 - 2am
The folks at the Red Rooster have generously offered to contribute half the cover charge to sponsoring my ride to Conquer Cancer. Also I plan on holding a 50/50 Draw and hoping for some games.
You can support simply by coming out and enjoying some good times.
The Legendary Red Rooster is a rock club located at 484 Plains Rd. East in Burlington.
Cover is: $5
Band Line-Up:
Redinger
Gone 4 Daze
Led Hot Zili Pepperz
Love to see any of you come out to this!
Also, if anybody has any good ideas on what else I can hold to raise some money at this event, your suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Please keep in mind that it is a rock bar, so the typical stag and doe games most likely wouldn't fly.

There's a training ride in Oakville on June 3 (rain date June 9) - 28km or 40km that comes with a catered lunch and a $20 donation to your R2CC efforts as long as you bring along a donation form that day. It's a mid day ride from Oakville up to Hornby Park and back - done as a fundraiser for a group trying to put some regulations in place as to how close power plants can be to houses and schools in Ontario (incredibly for gas-fired plants - no regulations exist). The honourary chair of the R2CC is coming along on the ride because he's a power plant and cycling expert - complimentary catered lunch provided - so, a thought provoking ride, get some exercise, a good lunch and a $20 donation. Limit of 60 cyclists on this ride so sign up early. See the training ride section of the R2CC website. Should be a fabulous day !
I have a team of riders (14 ladies and 4 guys) from Waterdown. Team name is "Sweet Cheeks" We ride 3 times a week out of Bicycle Works in town. All are welcome to join!
